The Inertia

Times are tough. In an era of massive inflation, decreased job opportunities, soaring costs of living, and a lot of just general shittiness, people are becoming ever more desperate to find ways to survive. One of those new forms of income is the sex worker-friendly subscription platform OnlyFans, which can now count La Jolla, California surfer Jacob Szekely among its members.

Of course, despite how it may sound, he’s not going to be shedding his clothing for tips any time soon. He’s part of a growing number of safe-for-work creators on OF. In fact, Szekely isn’t even the first surfer to start posting content on the website. Nathan Florence, Pedro Scooby, Billy Kemper and Moana Jones Wong have all joined the growing ranks of “OnlyFans Athletes.”

“I’m officially an OnlyFans athlete and I started an Only Fans page,” explained Szekely in his latest YouTube video, entitled I Changed My Life Forever. “We’re putting exclusive content on the OF account. We’re showing shit that we can’t show on YouTube because we make a ton of videos that get copyrighted, make a ton of videos that are just badass with like stunts or hot chicks and they get flagged. I’m pretty fucking stoked to actually partner with Only Fans and get some backing and some support to chase my dreams and also be able to put everything that we create on that platform.”

Best known for its pornographic content, OnlyFans was founded in 2016, then exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of 2024, the site had more than four-million registered creators and 370-million registered users. However, creators like Szekely and others have been part of a recent push from the platform to make inroads into the world of mainstream content.
