The Inertia

There’s perhaps no wave more capable of producing a visceral reaction from an audience than the Wedge. It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s unpredictable, and it’s breaking directly on the shore. Watching locals and visiting pros take it on inspires equal parts awe, and a feeling of a pit in one’s stomach. So whenever a swell hits Newport Beach, it’s worth watching.

Enter BEEFS. The Southern California mainstay has posted a lot of Wedge footage over the years and they joined a (surprisingly uncrowded) lineup of surfers and bodyboards to greet the first swell of this summer. While not the biggest or heaviest The Wedge has ever been, even smaller surf has the potential for madness at that spot.

Oh yeah, and there was some classic RC-surfer action thrown in there, for good measure.
