Even after the swell has faded, the memories remain. When a powerful south swell rolled across the world last week, it was one for the history books. Nowhere was that more true than Southern California, where the energy came to a rest, detonating along the Golden State’s coast.
Although the fun is pretty much over, for now, that doesn’t mean we aren’t still getting aftershocks from the action. Among the clips that continued to roll in was an entry from John Cocozza of the YouTube channel SLAWTV. The San Diego-based photographer captured images of La Jolla locals tearing up some sizable surf.
“Windansea Beach in La Jolla was able to pick up some that large southern hemi swell that hit Southern California,” wrote Cocozza. “On Wednesday June 10th, 2026 the mid tide session started to fire with the dropping tide. Several Windansea locals such as John Maher, Henry Hunt, JP Marengo, Tim Bessell were all out there scoring it with the small crowd. ”
