Anyone in the market for a ski resort? On Monday, a Zillow listing popped up for one of Utah’s 16 public ski areas.
Cherry Peak, near Richmond, Utah just south of the Idaho border, was founded by Logan native John Chadwick and opened in 2014. The resort is one of the state’s smaller ski areas, serving primarily Cache Valley residents and students at nearby Utah State University. However, the property still includes over 220 skiable acres, 29 runs and three triple chairlifts.
And the whole thing can be had for a cool $22.5 million
That price isn’t just for Cherry Peak’s 174 deeded acres, either. The listing notes that the purchase also includes a ski resort, three-level lodge, chairlifts and snowmaking equipment.
However, visitors without an eye for purchase need not fear. The listing promises that the resort is and will continue to be operational during the sale. According to the blurb: “This offering is not the closure of a resort, only its next chapter.”
So why is Cherry Peak going up for sale? As Chadwick told the Salt Lake Tribune, it’s been 12 years and he’s just ready to get out of the game. “I need to be done,” he said. “This is a hard industry to be in.”
