Another day, another wave pool. This latest in the onslaught of luxury freshwater surf destinations is a Northern California project called Alchemy Surf Resort.
The Placer County Planning Commission has just approved plans for Alchemy Surf Resort, according to an announcement from the county. Proposed by Inland Surf Company, the project is centered on a five-acre surf lagoon, but also includes the requisite additional amenities. Plans include a 100-room hotel, bungalows, and a 28,390-square-foot surf center. In addition to that, there will be an outdoor skate park for any boardriders who grow tired of chlorine.
The pool is part of the larger Placer One development, a 2,200-acre planned community is located about halfway between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. The futuristic all-electric community will have 5,600 homes alongside a future satellite campus for Sacramento State University.
“Alchemy Surf Resort represents another step in the development of the Placer One area and adds a new recreational and hospitality use to the mix of uses planned for west Placer,” said Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule. “The project has gone through the county’s planning and review process, and the approved plans provide a framework for the applicant to provide a unique recreational destination business to the community.”
The project aims to break ground in the spring of 2027.
