The Inertia

On a relatively hot January afternoon, a fire ignited a dry hillside near West Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades area, across the road from the beach. The day had been labeled as “critical” in terms of fire warnings and after the brush caught fire, according to KTLA, more than 160 firefighters rushed to the scene to help put out the blaze, which spanned ten acres.

Lanes headed north on Pacific Coast Highway were closed and traffic was redirected, which may be a Los Angeleno’s worst nightmare. Planes dumped water on the fire which was called a “major emergency brush fire,” and firefighters stood along the top of the bluff protecting the wealthy neighborhood behind them from the slowly creeping flames.

No one was harmed nor was any property destroyed in the fire and the origin of it is under investigation.
