I have been shooting surf for few years, but I recently realized I am more interested in the artistic side of it than in the surf itself.
It all started with my obsession of the sunrise. Normally I shoot surf before go work, but after a while of doing the same thing, I got the feeling I wasn’t doing anything really different. So I tried different techniques and angles.
I think surf is a sport where motion and speed are the whole thing. Mixing those two elements with the right lights you can come up with something fresher. And that’s how this whole concept came to be.
In the 30 minutes daily when the light is not enough to take perfectly clear photos, surfers in motion or the waves became my focus. After few months of shooting every day at sunrise, I came up with this series.
