The Inertia

To travel and see the world, actively and respectfully engaging in local culture and customs — making sure you’re not being an obnoxious jacka** disrupting these culture and customs — is admirable. But engaging in an even higher level discourse about existing or needed initiatives for constructive yet (once more) respectful change and then executing on that discourse not only expands your mind’s eye, but strengthens a community as well as our global connection. That, as well, is a good thing.

The Land Of is a new series from Stefan Hunt, following a group of surfer on a journey through Thailand. A “surf trip” whose reach extend well beyond simply riding waves, the ultimate goal is to not only gain new perspective, but to positively impact the landscape, whether by the land or the people.

The release of chapter one sees Joel Fitzgerald and Chrystal Jameson Fitzgerald in Phang Nga where they visitBaan Santisuk orphanage. From surfing with the kids to assisting with building projects, they leave a footprint that hopefully lasts in only the best of ways.

These memories may very well go a lot further than those Instagram posts we’ve become so anxious for…
