The ocean’s a pretty awesome place. Apart from the surfing thing – which is pretty awesome itself – without the ocean, we wouldn’t be here on the earth, driving around pumping out pollutants, creating things sit in landfills for thousands of years, and generally wreaking havoc on Mother Nature. Not that cool, humans.
But amid all our garbage, there still remain a few bastions of beauty, and the Surfrider Foundation is celebrating them. They want you to help. It’s called the My Special Place Instagram Contest, and it’s really easy. Take a photo of your special coastal place – a river, lake, ocean, or beach – and post it up on Instagram. To be considered, you must name the location of the photo (city, state, country) and tag @Surfrider and include the hashtags #ISD14 and #MySpecialPlace.
You have three days — three chances — to win by posting a picture Friday, June 20, Saturday June 21, and Sunday, June 22. On Tuesday the 24th, three Instagrammers will win a prize pack full of amazing swag, all in the name of raising awareness of the beauty of our coastline.
