The second installment of Red Bull’s 21Days explores the obstacles WCT pros Kolohe Andino and Carissa Moore’s overcame to arrive where they are in the international surfing scene. For Kolohe, it was learning to surf big waves, waves that were the exact opposite of the mush he was pushing growing up. From confidence to physical stature, Andino now finds himself in a position to rise to the challenge, finishing a surprising fifth at Billabong Pro Tahiti in gnarly conditions, even for Teahupoo. For Carissa, it was learning to cope with her parents’ divorce, along with the enormous pressures of being a promising young star in Hawaii.

Then they go on to talk sh*tty homebreaks (Kolohe) and training with the boyfriend (Carissa). Moore finishes by discussing the whole body image issue in women’s surf and that the current focus on T&A distracts from the actual surfing — but how that might be changing.

All in all, this most recent episode offers nice insight into the journeys of two of the best young surfers on their respective tours.
