You know what’s cute? A wallaby. You know what’s even more heartwarming? Two surfers saving a wallaby’s life in a rip. Who said surfers are selfish?
Two surfers, Jason Finlay and Scott Dennis, rescued a wallaby as it struggled in the ocean at Bawley Point on the South Coast of New South Wales in Australia a few days ago. According to a news report, the surfers wrapped him in a jet ski jacket and brought him to safety.
“The rip was pulling him under and the waves were breaking on his head, so we straight away knew we had to save him so we jumped in,” Scott Dennis. “Another ten minutes and he was gone.”
And what was the lucky wallaby’s name? Jeffy, of course.
The origin of the name is unknown, but considering the rad t-shirt the guys sported during the interview, he’s got all the trappings of a marsupial celebrity. “Everyone thought that was hilarious,” said Finlay. “Jeffy’s the man now.”
