Tyler won the Roxy Pro France yesterday. In a heat against Courtney Conlogue, Wright put down an incredible performance that included four 9+ rides, and proved that she’s a force to be reckoned with.
After a semifinal campaign against Joanne Defay, where she opened up with the day’s first nine-point ride. Defay was put on the defensive almost immediately, and midway through the heat, she found herself in a combo situation, needing a near-perfect score in the dying minutes.
Conlogue faced off against Carissa Moore in her semifinal heat. Moore started off with a promising bang early in the heat with an incredible layback that earned her a score in the excellent range, but Conlogue wasn’t deterred. She answered with back-to-back waves that put her through to the final. “I’m feeling good to be in the final but I definitely would like to win it,” Conlogue said before her last heat. “It’s been a roller coaster this year. I’ve had a lot of things happen I haven’t had happen to me before. It’s been a lot of work but it’s paying off.”
“That was one of the best Finals I’ve ever been in, wave-wise,” Wright said after her win. “It wasn’t a wave-catching contest, it was a wave-riding contest and that’s the way I love to surf.”
