Compelled to spend his entire life riding waves, Bob McTavish started building surfboards in 1962. Today, some 50 years later, Bob and his original vision of a life dedicated to surfing are alive and well at the McTavish Factory in Byron Bay. Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a collection of short films introducing and expanding on the lives of the people who ride and build our boards, and share the lifestyle pioneered by Bob and his friends in the ’60s. These are the characters that inspire us to stay true to the culture, and aspire to constantly build boards dedicated to function, beauty and quality that last for generations. Local Byron film maker Stefan José was recruited to create this collection of portraits to give a glimpse into the lives of the people, and the moments that are all Dedicated To the Craft. The first installment is with Matt Chojnacki, a talented logger from Australia.
