He discusses the reef, Backdoor, and explains the importance of the valley and a river that once existed in shaping the beach and reef in to the perfect marvel that is Pipeline. “The best Pipeline swell ever would be a WNW swell, southeast wind,” he said, “and 8-10 feet [Hawaiian] would set this place on fire.”
