In comparison to last week’s swell, we’ve had sort of a sleepy past few days here on the North Shore. With the waves and weather not cooperating, contest directors were forced to put competition on hold in anticipation for a new swell to arrive. Well that swell has arrived and Pipe has awakened from her slumber.
Today is a going to be a long and exciting day of surfing. By the end of the day we will be crowning a World Champion, Triple Crown Champion, and Pipe Masters Champion. In Heat 6 of Round 3, World No. 1, Gabriel Medina, will be going up against Hawaiian local Dusty Payne (who is leading the Triple Crown rankings) in quite possibly the most anticipated heat of the year.
