The WQS is a hard road. For ‘CT hopefuls, it’s a roller coaster of emotions–wins or losses there could mean the difference between competing for a World Title and banging it out for another year.
In Red Bull’s Qualifying, they’ve shifted the focus from the ones at the top of the podium to the ones scrapping for a chance to even step on it. They followed Pat Gudauskas, Zeke Lau, Damien Hobgood, Evan Geiselman and Nathan Hedge for the last half of the 2014 WQS, documenting their struggle to get onto the WCT. From Huntington to Portugal, we’ve seen their triumphs and failures, and it all came to a head at the Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach.
With the addition of Dusty Payne, Red Bull follows along with the surfers trying to break the bubble. And of course, as it has to be, some don’t make it. Some do. That’s the way it is. But for the ones that didn’t? Well, there’s always next year.
