Samba music is the music of Brazil. It’s that sweaty, hip shaking, tropical, dancing-in-the-streets music. It’s the sound of Carnival. And, as everyone in the surfing world is aware, the current world champion is from Brazil.
So why is it, Encycopedia of Surfing’s Matt Warshaw asks, that “nobody has ever thought to set Gabe’s surfing to something appropriate to his country of origin?” Well, consider it done. And we’ll be damned if it’s not a perfect match-up.
