Confronting Sharks is a short film about Joe Romiero, a shark filmmaker and artist. Discovery Channel’s Shark Week gets a lot of attention, but little credit is given to the people who are behind the camera. That’s why we decided to focus our film on of the filmmaker, as opposed to the animal. Joe is a unique personality who is driven by his passion for sharks, the ocean and art and has an interesting way of looking at the ocean’s wildlife.
This is DivePhotoGuide’s first original short film. We hope to continue profiling creators and image makers who have a commitment to documenting the oceans most dangerous and least observed parts. We want to understand how these people became the ocean explorers that they are today, and what drives them to keep going to work everyday despite how difficult or dangerous that work might be.
