Phil Read is from Perth. Western Australia has its fair share of ridiculously heavy waves, and Read’s no stranger to them. But this particular slab of madness has got to be one of the thickest barrels he’s ever found himself lucky enough to be in. Filmed at The Right on April 18th by Tim Bonython, the ride is an entry in the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards.
