Somewhere around this time last year, a German surf crew decided to realize their idea of a film project to show what cold water surfing means to them.
When you live in Germany, it is always quite a mission to fulfill your need for waves–either you board a plane to Portugal, the Canaries, or somewhere further and more exotic, or you have to jump in your car and travel down to wonderful France. If you are not on vacation but still you are hungry for surf, you need to explore the limited German coastline or drive up to neighboring Denmark.
With 6mm rubber, the quest in the water got easier, but the journey is the same. But it makes it more mellow to surf in wind, snow and ice. We all are cold water surfers always looking for wind swell and the rare groundswell coming from the Atlantic–it is a lifestyle. So the guys from different German cold water crews decided to merge and to hunt for the best waves in the northern hemisphere.
Long months with endless hours on ships and roads followed. Accompanied with heavy rain and storm forecasts, icy water temperatures and even colder air, they went to Iceland, Scotland, Denmark, and Germany. And now, after over six months of production time, the Binsurfen Team is proud to present the first German cold water surf movie, Headache.
Every cold water surfer knows the feeling of the ice cream headache that you get duckdiving your first wave in a winter session. And that is exactly the feeling when you watch this magnificent trailer–it makes you want to dip your head in a bucket of icy water, just to get this sensational feeling that the boys must have felt on their journey…
The 45 minute independent movie is a Binsurfen production and will be released on its on 17.04.2015 in the beautiful hanseatic city of Rostock. Following a tour through some cities in Germany and Europe. Visit the homepage for release dates and news: www.headachefilm.com.
