What’s next? Jordy Smith is no Nostradamus, but he gives this question some good thought, and, in our opinion, he’s pretty damn spot on. We know not a damn thing about the future of surfing, and like Jordy said: “I guarantee you that [Kelly’s 540] 10 years ago they would’ve told you that was absolutely impossible.” It’s true. And it did happen. The only thing I’m wondering is what surfers will be doing in 20, 30, or 40 years down the road. For all we know, Axel Irons could be winning the Wave Pool Universe Title on the moon and guys like Kelly Slater and Mick Fanning will be remembered as great surfers that “were in okay shape.” Whatever happens, we’re excited for it. Bring on the wave pools already.
