Kelly Slater wipes out far less than the average surfer. That said, though, he’s probably wiped out far more TIMES than the average surfer–you don’t get to be at Kelly’s level without earning your stripes. And when things got big at the Drug Aware Pro at Margaret River, Slater (who was surfing a 6’3!) decided–midway through a drop–that nope, he wasn’t going to make this one. He pulled he pin, covered his vitals and took it on the chin, just like he’s done a thousand times before… but it’s rare to see it.
