It’s easy to look at the Cornice by Firewire and be skeptical. It looks more like a wind turbine than a surfboard. Actually, it would be pretty reasonable to think our surfing predecessors would have a hundred different uses for it before they thought to surf on it. Come to think of it, high performance surfers 20 years ago would’ve laughed at the standard shortboards of today. “That’s way too short. There’s no way that can work,” they’d say.
Watching Timmy rip the snot out of this thing in extremely weak surf just goes to show you can’t knock it before you try it. What’s seemingly “weird” or “different” can end up working better than any board you’ve ever tried before. So get out there and try something “weird”or “different” this week. You might just love it.
