The title itself gives much of it away – The Gift. Here, the sea is something that sustains life. Without it, and without their understanding and connection to it, the locals have no way to feed themselves and their families, no livelihood, no survival. And while life in the Chilean fishing village of Patagonia is harsh, the coast remains pristine and beautiful unlike most of the world today. That allows two young fisherman to explore surfing in a meaningful way most of us never do – rather than struggling with the ocean in order to stay alive, they uncover secrets they never knew the sea had with their passion of catching waves.
