Last year, Occy lost to his rival, Tom Curren, in the WSL Heritage Series. It was a crushing defeat for the world’s favorite goofy-footer, but Occy refused to take his loss sitting down. He began a grueling training regime that would destroy even the toughest of people. He trained so hard, in fact, that the surfing community in general started to worry. Occy, it seemed, refused to leave the water.
“We’ve started sending him care packages,” said Joel Parkinson, “just to keep him going… but they haven’t all been successful.” His routine began to wear on him. His appearance became more and more bedraggled by the day, until finally, his loving friends and family sent him a razor, hoping that he might clean himself up. And when he shed his beard… he shed all the rest of his problems. Occy is back, and it’s all thanks to what might just be the greatest Braun advertisement ever.
