The Inertia

Surfing and the water have always one of my key sources of inspiration; therefore, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Mountain Dew gave me to create “Arctic Surf.” With this specific project, I felt there was a bigger story around arctic surfing that could be told through using some of the most cutting-edge video technology, while pushing the boundaries of what most think is even possible on a surfboard.

As the grand prize winner of the Mtn Dew Green Label Films: Open Call contest, I received a $250,000 grant to be an official content creator for the brand and to create this unique short film. I really consider myself blessed. The 16-hour boat ride from Homer, Alaska into the remote area of the fjords, with some of the best surf pioneers around — the likes of Scott Dickerson, Taylor Paul, and Jake (a.k.a. Mr. Alaska) — allowed me to capture amazing footage of cold-water surfing and breathtaking landscapes that I hope everyone enjoys watching as much as I enjoyed creating.
