Surfing will always be in a stand off with its own fear of “selling out.” From the simple distinction of being a soul surfer we’ve created a persona built on the idea that somewhere along the line our sport, our community, our culture, lost its way. Or you might just land on the side of the line that thinks it’s all a bunch of hyped up BS from people who want to make sure surfers remain the original hipsters – cool through exclusivity. Wherever your belief system places you in the never ending debate you can’t argue that the business of surfing is somewhat of an oxymoron. Monetizing something that can neither be bought or sold.
