There are a lot of questions to ask Mick Fanning these days. So many in fact that it would be hard to know where to start to conversation after his tumble with a great white shark. 60 Minutes decided the best place to start was to be there, cameras and microphones ready, to see his first session back in the water.
Probably most revealing in the 60 Minutes feature is rehashing those scary 9 seconds when Mick disappeared behind that wave, just he and the shark facing off. He admits he’s had nightmares and that he’ll probably seek help to get over the scariest encounter in the history of surfing. But now that all the dust is at least starting to settle Mick says things aren’t going to change so much after all. He just looks over his shoulder a bit more now.
