LA is a bit of a filth pit. Sure, there’s money and swaying palms and glittering buildings, but underneath it all is an undercurrent the smells vaguely of piss and garbage. It’s easy to ignore because of all the glitter, but it’s there.
There are great things, though–if one is able to look at what it must’ve been like before humans sank our polluted claws into it, it was a pretty wonderful place. And depending on what you’re into, it still is.
Although it’s not San Diego, there is a bounty of good waves in LA… you just need to know where to look and when to be looking. And if you’re a local boy, like Dane Zaun, then finding those moments of magic is pretty much second nature.
