The Inertia

“Brandon Semenuk is the best freestyle mountain biker alive.” That statement is becoming truer with every unconscionable edit he drops. As for any disclaimer to said statement? Increasingly unnecessary. And this overshoot-recovery might very well be the end to any inclusion of “arguably” in that aforementioned statement.

Rupert Walker, another prodigious talent, captured the superhuman status of Semenuk while filming in Utah for Revel in the Chaos…

…which looks like a fucking awesome mountain bike movie.

Anyway, this overshoot — and his ability to recover so uneventfully (aside from a deserved “woop!”) — is exactly why Brandon Semenuk is the best freestyle mountain biker alive, and produces the best freestyle mountain bike parts ever.

Overshoot-2

Semenuk sees that he is going to overshoot, adjusts by pulling the bike up as to avoid getting clipped, then STOMPS the landing. Unreal.

He is technical in every sense of the word, but his superhuman status comes from this insane bike control he has, making the machine an extension of himself. Many professional mountain bikers do the same, but with Semenuk it just looks and undoubtedly feels so natural. It is a raw talent that separates him from even his most impressive contemporaries, including the ones who might be significantly more mental than he is.
