When it rains, it pours… especially in Hawaii. After torrential rains pounded Honolulu, manholes in pristine Waikiki emptied their contents into the streets and spilled an estimated half-million gallons of sewage into the sea.
Officials have closed Ala Moana, Waikiki and Point Panic until further notice. “We don’t know right now what is in the water” said Shane Enright, a spokesperson for the city’s Department of Emergency Services. “You could get a serious infection, get extremely sick or even worse.”
