Surfing is no longer a fringe sport. It’s smack in the middle of the mainstream, and it’s growing. Since the World Surf League turned over their new leaf, professional surfing is bigger than it was before. It’s more like the NFL… which sucks. But it sucks to surfers, not to non-surfers watching surfing. Billy from Ohio that surfed once at Waikiki on a Hawaiian vacation loves it!
And now Fox Sports is getting in on the action. John John Florence is being cast as the rebel surfer–he’s not changing his style for anybody, he says. Not even the judges!
