Jay Kohn grew up in Indialantic, Fl and started surfing in 1973 when he was 11. To this day, Jay's surfing is inspired by the “Bustin Down the Doors” generation and his favorite surfers as a kid were Shaun Tompson and Larry Bertleman. During the 70’s and early 80’s Jay was a regular at Sebastian Inlet but loved most to surf his home break Coral Way in Indialantic. Jay surfed competitively in amateur competitions in the ESA and NSSA for a few years and even had some success when he finished first place among seniors in Satellite High School's first surfing competition in 1979. Since then Jay's love for surfing has never diminished. Jay has been traveling and surfing continuously for over 40 years. Jay currently lives in Israel where teaches English. Jay is very involved with the Israel Surfing Association (ISA). Jay has been working with youth and judging contests for the last 5 years. "I strongly believe that Education should be stressed and that there is a need for Surfing Field Schools for the growing number of traveling youth touring the world. Surfing has been the one constant in my life. It is my motivation to stay healthy and happy. I am still obsessed!"
