My name is Jonathan Bouic, I am a Mauritian journalist. I started surfing about twenty years ago when my dad pushed me into my first wave. I’ve been an avid surfer ever since, although with limited skills. Surfing isn’t very developed around here – boards are hard to find, the reef is sharp and shallow, and good swells are quite rare. But I’m grateful for this, because when the surf’s good it can be epic, and usually we are just a few people out – if you except the most famous breaks of the island. I cannot wait to bring my three years old son with me to perpetuate the tradition.
