Josh Soskin has spent most of his life directing moving pictures–commercials, short films, documentaries, etc. He just finished directing "La Carnada," a prequel to his first feature film "Smuggler," which he plans on filming in 2014. But at some point in the last few years, he found a second outlet for his creative juices in photography, specifically film photography, and even more specifically, film photography on a number of old, dusty analog cameras. With often long lulls between bigger directing projects, he found that photography was the perfect void filler and could keep him connected visually. As he researched his feature film in San Diego and Mexico, traveling on surf trips, or as he walked around his home of Venice Beach, he began finding his voice as a photographer. This has since culminated in his first dual medium venture, "Untitled Underwear Project," in which Soskin is photographing female models in various states in their underwear and also shooting them on 16mm film for an accompanying video project. One of Soskin's photographs recently snagged the cover for Desilusion magazine, a european skate and surf publication, and he's begun selling his work as well on easy and at a few gallery shows. You can follow him on instagram at @joshsoskin and he's also on Flickr and Tumblr. His filmmaking work can be seen at www.joshsoskin.com.
