Born and raised on the shores of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Philippa Anderson has since made her home in Newcastle, Australia, where she has lived for over 12 years. Surfing from the age of 8, Philippa soon followed in her brother Craig Anderson's footsteps, and began competing. While her brother moved away from competing, and is now one of the most sought after free surfers in the World, Philippa continued on the competition circuit with a burning desire to qualify for the World Tour. After a very successful Pro Junior career, claiming the World Pro Junior Championship runner-up two years in a row, Philippa graduated to competing on the WQS. In her first year she missed out on qualification for the World Tour by two places on the QS rankings. After this amazing high, Philippa was then dropped by her only major financial sponsor and left to fend for herself on the exciting but expensive WQS. Hitting an all career low, Philippa lost a lot of confidence and struggled her way through a few tough years. Philippa never gave up on her dreams and through hard work and determination she has returned to WQS fighting fit and ready to take her place on the elite International stage.
