I started surfing in l959, surfed in three state championships, wrote my first story for Surfer Magazine in l970, and was President of the Surfrider Foundation for the first six years. In the late 80's Surfrider busted two paper pulp mills for 40,000 violations of the Clean Water Act and won the largest clean water action in American history. For the past three years I have been helping Surfrider in their fight to protect public access at Martins Beach. I have also been involved in environmental law and politics. I was Field Representative to Congressman Leo Ryan and worked in the EPA and the White House for President Jimmy Carter.
