The Inertia

Mobile apps are constantly changing our lives in one way or another. But considering we like to spend as much of our day as possible in a place that’s not exactly cell phone friendly, we can’t tote smart phones around with us in the lineup (thank god). That’s left the market for mobile applications that can help us while we’re in the water pretty wide open.

The SURF FIRST AID app seems to have sidestepped those obstacles. Designed with surfers in mind, the waterman friendly safety application focuses on surf-relevant first aid. It teaches everything from CPR basics to how-to guides for dealing with marine animal stings and bites, and even drowning prevention with quizzes. A data base of local emergency numbers relevant to your location is always provided, covering as many bases as possible

Now, for the traveling surfer there is always that little snag in the road known as cell service. And this is perhaps one of SURF FIRST AID’s best features, as it provides everything within the application offline. It’s all a pretty genius addition to the surf world, giving us a valuable tool that makes the most of the one device that’s rarely ever further than arm’s reach…unless we’re actually out in the ocean of course.
