The Inertia

It seems like everybody is talking about building a new wave pool in locations all over the globe. But how often have we seen somebody step up to the plate and put their money where their mouth is? This time around we have a name, an investor, a location and a timetable.

That’s the story on NLand Surf Park, which Doug Coors (yes, from the same family that brews our brews) is backing and has slated for opening in 2016 in Austin, Texas. The plan is for a 160-acre park with 11 separate areas for surfing. NLand will be sporting Wavegarden’s technology, with the main lagoon pumping out waves in a pool over 1,000 feet long by nearly 500 feet wide.

But as mentioned, these sorts of plans pop up all the time without much follow through, especially with a pool of this size. More details are expected through a media release planned for June 4.
