It seems every day somebody is taking their creativity to Kickstarter to launch the next way to enjoy the water. One of the latest inventions to hit the popular crowd funding site is The Padillak, the first ever SDP (sit-down paddle) seat that allows a paddle boarder to take a seat on their board and essentially convert it to a kayak. They simply want to change the way SUP enthusiasts enjoy the water by allowing them to switch up between the two instantly. Padillak assures that while there are other SUP board seats on the market, theirs is the first to transform a board into a kayak without compromising its original use as a SUP.
The 30-day online fundraising campaign aims to reach at least $30,000 so it can mass produce the Padillak. And during the month long campaign they’ll be selling the product for half its normal retail price ($489), hoping that will encourage SUP enthusiasts to give the new invention a try.
The Padillak works by velcro-ing the nylon seat cushion to onto the paddle board. It cleverly doubles as a flotation device when detached from the board. And adding more to the idea of creating comfort and balance from the board itself, there are balance bars allowing you to easily sit down and stand up while paddling.
