It’s been a while since the U.S. Forest Service rocked the iconic mint-green Broncos, but we haven’t forgotten them. Well, neither has Ford, and they’ll be back in 2021, mintier and fresher than ever. Bronco and Filson just revealed the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig Concept and limited edition outdoors gear at to raise funds for reforestation and forest preservation efforts. The Bronco Wild Fund will also donate two fully kitted Bronco SUVs to support forest firefighting crews in defending communities and natural resources.

The partnership comes on the heels of one of the most devastating U.S. fire seasons ever, with more than 7.5 million acres destroyed. The collaboration intends to honor wildland firefighters – from local to federal.

The two brands certainly have plenty of experience in outfitting the USFS, dating back to the mid-1900s when forest service crews wore Filson Cruiser jackets and took first-generation Broncos out into the wild. In a few years I could see these radical rigs becoming standard issue for the forest service, and who knows? Maybe the mustache and aviators will make a comeback, too.
