Humans are incredible beings. Thanks to climate change, the foothills of northern India, are a virtual desert in the summer months. And receeding glaciers, where locals get most of their water, has become a real problem. But this engineer, Sonam Wangchuk, created an ingenious way to preserve water by farming (growing) these insanely-beautiful ice sculptures, or ‘ice stupas.’ The ice formations slowly release water through the dry months and create another resource for the people of the region. And they’re beautiful.
