The Inertia

Look no further than this recipe for a delicious burger this weekend.¬†It’s good for you, and it tastes even better.


1 Avocado
1 cup Black beans, cooked salted
1/4 tsp Chipotle
1/2 cup Green onion
1 Onion
1 Sprouts
2 cups Sweet potato
1 cups Brown rice, cooked
1 tbsp Brown sugar
1 tsp Paprika, smoked
1/4 tsp Salt and pepper
1/2 cup Walnut or pecan meal
2 1/2 tsp Cumin, ground




-Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut sweet potatoes in half, rub with olive oil, and place face down on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake until soft to touch (this should take bout 30 minutes) then set aside. Reduce oven to 375.

-Cook the rice while the potatoes are baking.

-Pour black beans in a mixing bowl, and then mash about half of them for a different texture. Toss in the sweet potato, then lightly mash. Next add in 1 cup of rice as well as the green onion, nut meal, and spices. Combine by mixing the ingredients together. Adjust seasonings to taste. Add more nut meal or rice if the mixture is too wet.

-Lightly grease a baking sheet. Line a 1/4 cup measuring cup with plastic wrap.

-Fill the cup with sweet potato mixture. Pack down then lift the plastic to transfer the mixture onto the baking sheet. Pat down gently, the thinner you press the mixture, the quicker the burgers will cook.

-Bake burgers for 30-45 minutes. Flip about 20 minutes in.

-Serve on buns with any toppings or condiments!
