Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti seems like he’s got his head on straight: his Wine Project is one of the raddest pieces of work ever (even if every web outlet in the world has picked it up). Mostly it’s rad because I’m a big fan of humanity. And good conversation. And good friends. Wine—or gin and whatever mixer you can come up with—only go to enhance those soul-reviving interactions.

Admittedly, some of us keep it together better than others when we imbibe. Which is okay. Life can be stressful. Alberti, a Brazilian photographer encapsulated the joy of friendship pretty damn well in his Wine Project. Friends got together at his studio and partook in the pleasure, getting their picture taken before they drank, then again after each glass. “The first picture was taken right away when our guests have just arrived at the studio in order to capture the stress and the fatigue after a full day of work all day and facing rush hour traffic to get here,” Alberti wrote on his site. “At the end of every glass of wine a snapshot, nothing fancy, a face and a wall, 3 times. People from all walks of life, music, art, fashion, dance, architecture, advertising, got together for a couple of nights and by the end of the third glass several smiles emerged and many stories were told.”

Sounds about right. Isn’t this the kind of get-together we need to treasure these days? At a time when so many facets of the human existence are working to tear us apart? I think so. More of this. Less of that.

One critique: Alberti forgot to shoot that guy nipping off the bottle in his pocket between glasses of wine, slobbering all over himself while turning the happy-hour get together awkward. Maybe that guy only shows up at my parties? Come to think of it, why does that guy only show up at my parties?

Check out the entire Wine Project here. And celebrate humanity. It’s good for you.
