Is it okay to laugh yet? The election inspired some very serious reaction over the last week including protests across the country, and perhaps rightly so. But the protest, Make Colorado Snow Again, spawned from said election chaos, is definitely not the most poignant thus far. But at least it’s one that could take the edge off things.
Over the weekend, a group of Steamboat Springs, Colo. protesters got together in force (there were at least four) to air their displeasure with the lack of snow in the Rocky Mountain high country, which has kept most resorts from opening. They even made signs, on a mission to end the run of recent dry weather. The group—which might possibly be perceived as four privileged young white men standing on the corner of a ski town on a Saturday–were heard yelling out the slogans, “Make Colorado Snow Again,” and “Not My Season,” both of which were definitely not trending on social media. The group did fail massively in taking itself too seriously. Which was viewed as a good thing by those passing by on Lincoln Boulevard.
“We need to focus on the topics,” said one protester brandishing a scarf to hide his identity. “Our (ski) season. The topics that matter.”
In related news, Steamboat is expecting precipitation on Thursday.
