An attorney representing American skiing legend Bode Miller says drug charges against the ex-Olympian will be dropped. The statement came just a day after TMZ reported Miller had been arrested in Idaho on June 6.
A statement from attorney Jeremy Stafford given to ABC News appears to contradict details obtained from a Fremont County Sheriff’s probable cause statement TMZ had obtained. Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Hurt wrote in the probable cause statement that Miller was in possession of “a white dispensary bag containing psilocybin mushrooms” amounting to 4.1 grams. Miller pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia the following week. Refuting the Sheriff’s statement, Stafford says, “no drugs were found on Bode’s person.” Stafford also added that he spoke to Fremont County Prosecutor Lindsey Blake, and they “agreed to dismiss all charges against Bode Miller.”
Miller had released his own statement on social media Tuesday night, acknowledging he’d been pulled over in Idaho for accelerating while passing another vehicle. “My friend, who was traveling with me, had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe in his possession which I was unaware of,” Miller wrote. “We fully cooperated with the officer. I am hopeful the misdemeanor charges will be dropped once the facts are reviewed.”
