The Inertia

Chloe Kim continues to redefine her sport in both style and amplitude. The 15-year-old Californian won the halfpipe event at the Burton US Open in Vail, Colorado today. In a non-Olympic year, Kim has now won halfpipe events at the X Games Aspen, the Youth Olympics, X Games Oslo and the US Open this weekend, essentially completing a “Chloe Slam” for 2016, not dissimilar to what Tiger Woods accomplished in golf, or Serena Williams in tennis. She has not lost a major event since the Dew Tour Superpipe in December of 2015, where she ended second.

Kim went with back-to-back 1080’s and made it look simple in the finals (check it, above). China’s Xuetong Cia was second and Kelly Clark, an absolute legend in her own right, ended third.

Kim was trending all day on Instagram, with the world tagging and hashtagging the phenom. “I love the ‘Gram,'” she said, tongue-in-cheek during a post-comp interview. And apparently, the “Gram,” loves Chloe Kim.
