The Inertia

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out Mel Gibson’s career has been rife with controversy. But it’d similarly be a shame to focus explicitly on what the public sees of a man without mentioning that no one can possibly understand the sorts of demons that are a part of that personal struggle, especially someone clinically diagnosed with manic depression.

Whether Mel Gibson has adequately atoned for his transgressions is a matter of perspective. Regardless, the man is making a comeback – starring recently in the film Blood Father.

Now shooting another film called The Professor and the Madman, alongside Sean Penn, he’s currently filming in Dublin.

From the looks of it Gibson decided to take advantage of a day off by experiencing all the local hiking scene has to offer, and ran into a couple of locals along the way.

Heather Fogarty and friends Michael O’Connor and Shane Gallagher were excited. “Climbed the Sugar Loaf today!” said Fogarty in an Instagram post. “It was great fun bit of yoga thrown in and to top it all off we met Mel Gibson at the summit! #SolidSunday #Mel #gibson #ireland #sugarloaf.” Mel looks happy to oblige in a selfie whilst taking in the incredible view.
