Celebrity: Not all it’s cracked up to be.

The Inertia

Once someone reaches a certain level of celebrity, all bets are off as far as protecting one’s privacy. And that’s kinda sad. In the past two days, World Champion downhill skier Lindsey Vonn became victim to a horrible invasion of privacy when her phone was somehow hacked and nude pictures from her relationship with Tiger Woods were released on the web.

The hacking was first reported by TMZ (of course). The report confirmed that the photos were from her relationship with the 14-time Major-winning golfer, which was between 2013-2015.

“It is an outrageous and despicable invasion of privacy for anyone to steal and illegally publish private intimate photos,” said a spokesperson for the World Cup champ. “Lindsey will take all necessary and appropriate legal action to protect and enforce her rights and interests. She believes the individuals responsible for hacking her private photos as well as the websites that encourage this detestable conduct should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law.”

It was not immediately known who or how the photos were stolen. But one particular site has published the photos and those of other stars who’ve had nude imagery stolen like Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Katharine McPhee and Stella Maxwell, according to TMZ.

Woods and his people immediately issued a strong statement, threatening legal action.
