Mammoth Mountain has announced its spring skiing season will extend through June 7. The resort had announced just over a week ago that its original plan of staying open through Memorial Day would be extended to at least May 31.

“In true Mammoth fashion, we’ll keep skiing and riding as long as conditions allow. With cold temps, solid coverage and fresh snow in the forecast this week, lifts are now scheduled to spin through Sunday, June 7,” the resort announced online.

According to On the Snow, Mammoth is running six lifts with 40 of its 180 trails open after Memorial Day. When the mountain announced its previous extension in the middle of May, the resort had nine open lifts and 70 open trails, so coverage is clearly dwindling fast now.

Mammoth won’t match last year’s length of 213 days, but spring brought decent snowfall that allowed for the multiple extensions well past other California resorts. In fact, Mammoth officially locked up California’s latest season when Palisades Tahoe closed on May 24. April brought 48 inches of powder following an incredibly slow March that saw just one inch the entire month. It became the snowiest April since the 2019-2020 winter, and helped push the mountain’s total season snowfall to 293 inches as of May 26. And an incoming storm later this week may be enough to rise above the 300-inch mark.
